Koraal
17.12.06 | Amsterdam
Performance in Paradiso, Amsterdam. (28 minutes)
For the 'Nacht of de nieuwe Oogst', we presented Koraal, a piece composed by Janco Verduin, and performed by the Reflex quartet. The performance involved music and video as two inseparable components, and was built in three parts :
• first a written part, where strings tied to each instrument made elements move in an on-stage aquarium, casting shadows that were then processed live and projected on the big screen.
• Then an 'guided' improvisation, where the musicians took moving image as a starting point.
The improvisation 'score' was first designed as a filmstrip before video elements and animation were added.
• At last, the score and the aquarium images were mixed and distorted according to live sound input.
